Fibber McGee & Molly
Fibber McGee & Molly 1935-1956 Jim and Marian Jordan played Fibber McGee and his wife Molly in this hilarious domestic comedy. It was written and created by Don Quinn who had also written Smackout. It was a very popular show with over 700 episodes being broadcast. The prop best remembered from the show was probably McGees junk-filled closet, which always crashed down on anyone that happened to open the door. It was a very patriotic show with a whole run of shows with homefront themes. Harlow Wilcox was both the show's announcer and a
regular character who somehow would weave his Johnson's Wax commercials into the plot, so
as to avoid a commercial break. Don Wilson did the same "stealth" commercials
for Jack Benny with equally comic effect. The King's Men was the featured vocal quartet on
the show from 1940 - 1953. |
