Hopalong Cassidy
| Hopalong Cassidy was the success story of 1950, a commercial juggernaut that defied all reason to become the radio and TV triumph of its day. On radio, it was the making of Commodore Productions, the shoestring syndicate founded by Walter & Shirley White. It was the Whites who first became convinced that a radio show built around the Hopalong Cassidy character, as played by William Boyd in the 1930s B-western films, would be a solid winner. Boyd had a unique voice, radiating power and authority. There was simply no other cowboy hero quite like him. |
